SriLankan Airlines Presidential commission to probe, fraud, nepotism, current and ex-CEOs

ECONOMYNEXT – President Maithripal Sirisena had appointed a commission of inquiry headed by ex Supreme Court Judge Anil Gooneratne to probe alleged fraud, nepotism, leasing of aircraft, actions of current and former chief exectrives including termination of leases and hiring and firing.

The commission which probe the period of January 2006 to January 31, 2018, has to report its findings in six months.

Ethauda Arachchige Gamini Rohan Amarasekara, Judge of the Court of Appeal, Piyasena Ranasinghe, Retired Judge of the High Court, Mallawaarachchige Don Anthony Harold, Retired Deputy Auditor General, and Wasantha Jayaseeli Kapugama Geeganage, Director General, Sri Lanka Accounting and Standards Monitoring Board would be other members.

The committee will also probe the termination of a management deal with Emirates, its consequences and transactions valued at over million rupees.
