Getting Started on Your Investment Journey

While there are many opportunities for foreign investors to invest in Sri Lanka, you will need to consider various barriers to entry into Sri Lanka’s investment process. At present those who do not hold Sri Lankan citizenship cannot buy property in Sri Lanka. However, there are legitimate ways to gain entry, and we can help you get the necessary legal and other assistance that you require to get you started with your investment journey in Sri Lanka.

 

Buying an Apartment 

There are no restrictions for foreign investors to purchase apartments above the 3^rd floor, in Sri Lanka. However, your investment will need to be remitted through a Securities Investment Account (SIA) to avoid problems in repatriating your disposal proceeds at a later stage. We can assist you in setting up an SIA.

We can also assist you in obtaining reliable information and legal advice with regards to the real estate market in Sri Lanka.

Buying Real Estate

Although foreign investors face restrictions in owning property in Sri Lanka, foreign investors can own real estate via a joint venture company. We can provide legal and corporate guidance to investors who opt to own real estate via an incorporated company.
