Forum on “Getting Wetland Research Into Policy & Practice”

Research findings can only be used as an input to national development policies if researchers and policy-makers cooperate closely to understand specific needs, ensure relevance of topics, and improve communication, dissemination and implementation of the research recommendations. To integrate wetland related research findings into the decision making process and to communicate research findings to decision makers is a key challenge in Sri Lanka. Effective and innovative research communication is a vital element in ensuring that research makes a difference. Without it, a lot of research effort is being wasted.

Therefore, this session aims to provide a platform for wetland researchers and decision makers to discuss and generate views and recommendations on how to bridge the gap between researchers and decision makers in order to implement research beneficial for the development of the country.
