Active Citizens Project Showcase

The Active Citizens Project Showcase is set to take place on 22 January 2018, at the British Council in Colombo.

Active Citizens is a global social leadership training programme that promotes intercultural dialogue and community-led social development. It is currently running in over 54 countries.

Through the programme, we bring together people with different beliefs and perspectives to learn from and share with each other. Working with our partners, we train participants in the skills and knowledge needed to affect social change in their communities.

Active Citizens connects thousands of like-minded people around the world who collectively want to make a fairer and more inclusive society. The programme has had a successful journey in Sri Lanka with nearly 5,000 youth being trained as Active Citizens over the past 4 years and multiple youth-led social action projects being carried out.

What’s happening?

1. The project showcase will highlight local and international youth-led social action projects and will provide an excellent networking opportunity for young people interested in youth-led sustainable development.

2. Local and international Active Citizens will host learning sessions where they will share their experiences and lessons-learnt in implementing projects in their communities, these will feature the main themes of art and culture, education, disability and inclusion, gender and environment. Seats will be reserved on a first-come-first-served basis.
